Leeds United were beaten away to Queens Park Rangers on Friday evening, with the home side comfortably taking all three points at Loftus Road.
The hosts opened the scoring after just eight minutes, with their first attempt on goal. Elias cut to the ball from the left and fired a low shot towards goal, his effort finding the bottom corner via a deflection.
Looking to respond quickly, Daniel Farke’s side went on the attack themselves. Crescencio Summerville passed the ball to Jorginio Rutter, who gave Joel Piro a chance to shoot, which the striker did, but his effort was saved well by Asmir Begovic.
Queens Park Rangers doubled their lead in the 22nd minute with a goal similar to the first goal. After switching sides this time, they advanced down the right, and Lucas Andersen was the player to cut inside and drill his effort into the far corner.
Somerville again looked to answer, and approached Leeds. Willy Gonto crossed from the right wing and found the winger at the back post, shooting the ball into the net, but Begovic made a good save again.
Leeds had plenty of possession during the remainder of the first half and had chances to make plays, but were unable to get back into the game before half-time.
End of the first half: Queens Park Rangers 2-0 Leeds United
No changes were made in the second half and the teams returned to play the second half under the lights of Loftus Road, with the hosts leading by two goals.
Leeds were in front from the start and had a great chance to reduce the deficit. Ethan Ampadu ran down the left side and brought the ball back into the penalty area, Jorginho collected it and shot it, seeing the effort go wide of the post.
As the hour mark approached, the President once again approached the hosts, before changes followed. Mathieu Joseph came on and participated in the attack, replacing Sam Byram who had been previously booked.
The striker had a chance immediately after coming on. A low ball into the box found him at the near post, but Begovic again made a good save from Joseph’s close shot.
The home side extended their advantage with just over 15 minutes to play. From a corner kick into the box, Lyndon Dykes was there to connect the ball and head home the third goal.
In the final five minutes, another header would make it four. Chair was the provider with a free-kick cross from the right, allowing Sam Field to jump higher this time and head in.
End of the match: Queens Park Rangers 4-0 Leeds United
